Hey Mom and Dad! Have you ever wished that your kids would be filled with compassion for others? Have you ever wished that selflessness and service to others would rule and reign in their hearts? Have you ever wished that your child would forego the biggest slice of cake and give it to his sister? Ha! Seems like an impossible dream in this world of gimme, gimme, gimmeeeeee!!!
What if we made it easy to teach these character traits to your kids and at the same time made it fun? What if we gave your kids the opportunity to know that it is truly more blessed to give than to receive? Join the Birthday Club and watch your kids transform into ‘others focused’ individuals right in front of your eyes!
At a shoe-themed birthday party, we’re asking kids to give up their own birthday presents and instead have their party guests bring shoes for orphans! YIKES! You heard us right! NO PRESENTS except for orphans! The party will be filled with letter writing to orphans and coloring pictures to send to
children around the world. You will be decorating bikes and wagons with balloons and streamers for a Shoe Parade around the neighborhood; collecting more shoes from friends and neighbors (only with parents’ supervision, of course). Finally, your guests will pack the boxes with shoes, letters, pictures and love in preparation for mailing.
This is going to be a big and momentous decision for your child, so let’s take it a step at a time: First, watch the videos and the cartoon on this website to expose them to the needs of orphans. Let them see for themselves the faces of children all over the world who need our help. It’s amazing what happens when we see one another face to face! Second, take the Stiktures Challenge of daily reading a Bible verse about loving and serving others. Let God’s word begin to soften their hearts and change their desires. Give it time, parents…God’s word is very powerful and it works to change us all! Third, begin to pray for the orphans with your kids. Watch your children’s hearts expand as they pray for others. Lastly, order the Shoes picture book and our CD in order to inspire your birthday boy or girl to care for others. You can even play the GoBeDo Song during your birthday parade! Okay, are you ready? Now, just ask them if they want to join the Birthday Club. We believe there’s thousands of your kids who will say ‘yes.’
Thinking of others on their own special day is an act of kindness that we want to reward! Besides the intrinsic joy of giving, we want to reward your child with a special golden membership in Club GoBeDo. When your child chooses to participate in the Birthday Club, please download this Club GoBeDo Golden Member Award Certificate for selflessness and compassion!
